The relaxation program is an integral part of TuneUp's success. It is VITAL that you are physically relaxed when you play, this means learning to identify areas of muscular tension and releasing the tension in the area. In taichi chuan we must be able to move with clarity and confidence, with precision and control. We learn to move into difficult positions and manouvre through them.
We build these skills one on top of the next. At the root of all of them is the ability to physically relax while maintaining a sharp mental focus.
This i snot as easy as it may sound and so the exercises here are graded, each building on the skills learned in the previous one. It is important to take them slowly, to be comfortable with one before you move to the next, and to satisfy yourself that your not after a quick fix here. You shouldn't expect to get this the first time you do it, instead you'll find that it creeps up on you and you'll gradually become more comfortable with them without even noticing it.
